A Biologically-inspired, Lighter-than-air, Instructional, Mechatronics Program (BLIMP)

How to use this website
This kit-based program seeks to provide high-school aged students an entry point to biologically inspired maritime robotics using lighter-than-air vehicles. Within the kit, students have everything they need to build one of three different BLIMP designs inspired by tuna, manta rays, and jellyfish in order to understand how one can use unique traits of each species to achieve a desired outcome. The supporting curriculum provides standards-aligned lessons for classroom use. For ease of reference and student growth, a terminology section and links to additional resources are provided.
BLIMP is supported by ONR grant N00014-21-1-2968. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this material are those of the author(s) and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Office of Naval Research.
